My branch of the Schneggenburger tree came from Aixheim in Wuerttemberg (Germany). They settled first in Buffalo, NY. Several members of two generations came to Buffalo. The earliest was an uncle of my direct ancestor. In Aixheim the name was usually spelled Schneckenburger or Schnekenburger.

From what I have uncovered a brother and three sisters of one generation came over a decade in mid 1800s, and then two brothers, nephews to the prior generation came late 1880s early 1890s.

The first to come to the USA was Jakob who settled in Black Rock, a city that was later absorbed into Buffalo. He married Ann Rahe who died in 1882. He then married Walburga Schumacher.

Just in passing, about 10 years ago, I worked with a gentleman having a variation on this name. He retired and moved to Florida quite awhile ago. HIs variation was Schnegenburg, to the best of my memory.
